Grain Market Volatility
The
increased interest from exporters was relatively brisk even amid
rallying prices. Wheat future price surging to nearly eight dollars
a bushel drew out additional farm sales. Others held back their
remaining 2010 crop, as they hope prices would continue to escalate.
Premiums on hard red winter wheat with proteins with less than twelve percent, were ten cents higher. With proteins with 14% dropping eleven cents on the Kansas City September future.
The surge in wheat future prices encouraged some spring wheat producers to sell ahead additional supply, as the harvest begins to pick up momentum. Rail road fell further behind Schedule in placing rail cars, and completing shipments. Which raise concerns not only for current grain movement needs, but how rail road will be able to handle what is to be expected to be the largest spring wheat crop since 1996. Delays of a week to 10 days were common.
General Information
At the Farmers Cooperative Association Elevator the employee team
strives to offer customers a wide range of quality products at an
affordable price, prompt customer service and on ranch consulting
and delivery. At our 1st Street location in Gillette, we are fully
stocked in both CHS and Purina bagged feed, we also try and supply
our customers with a variety of specialty feeds upon request. In an
area full of livestock where bulk feeds make more sense, we have
partnered with CHS to supply our producers with grains, liquid feed
(from QLF), tubs (Smart Lic) and cattle cakes and creep to fit their
individual needs. CHS offer a wide range of high quality products
and a strong nutritional support team to assist us in any way
required.
We have both an 8 and a 15 ton bulk delivery truck for on ranch
services of bulk grains, cattle cake, and calf creep. This is a
complement to CHS ability to supply on ranch delivery of full semi
loads (23 ton) of feed. We also have a panel truck set up with
liquid feed tanks for bulk on ranch delivery. Two converted
anhydrous ammonia tanks help our QLF customers reduce costs with
self-serve capabilities.
For any customers that need to determine the value of their feed and
forages, we can take samples and have them analyzed by Servi-Tech
laboratories. With this information we are able to suggest to our
producers which feeding system best fit their needs. Todd Olson, our
CHS representative, spends 2 days a week in our area and can be
reached on his cell at 307-752-6199. We have a wide range of fencing
supplies from wire and T-Posts (all heavy 1.33 grade posts) to blunt
wood posts. Livestock equipment from such reputable suppliers as
Powder River, Priefert, and Behlen Country. In addition, our store
carries vaccines, animal health and livestock supplies, electric
fencing by Gallagher, lawn and pasture fertilizer and a wide variety
of chemicals for the control of weeds and pests. We offer seed
cleaning and treating capabilities for whole grains and at our East
yard we have the storage capacity for 450,000 bushel of wheat for
our area farmers.
